Exactly one year ago today the Emergency Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago (EMATT) was launched. We, the members of EMATT are working hard at becoming the nation’s recognised “voice” of emergency management that promotes Disaster Risk Reduction strategy as part of sustainable national development for the long-term benefit of Trinidad and Tobago.
5 of our major accomplishments over the last year include:
1. Obtained endorsement from OPDM / TEMA and developed working partnerships to address gaps in our disaster management framework 2. As a member of ODPM'S Technical Review Committee, contribute to the preparation of a draft national DRM policy to facilitate legislation that would drive DRR culture throughout
T & T 3. Increased EMATT's membership by over 100 % 4. Launched EMATT Tobago Chapter 5. Reside as a member of ARISE Trinidad - Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies whose aim is to support private sector efforts that are guided by the Sendai Framework for disaster risk reduction and undertake activities aimed at enhancing disaster risk management in T & T
We are proud and honoured to reach this far and our journey continues in being CONSISTENT, PERSISTENT and CREDIBLE in our mission for the continuous enhancement of national Disaster Risk Reduction.
